Lynn Goldsmith: The Looking Glass Details
Lynn Goldsmith is a renowned photographer of actors, writers, rock stars, and other celebrities, but her most intriguing work is arguably her surreal self-portraiture. The sublime and colorful compositions presented in In the Looking Glass offer a perfect vehicle for Goldsmith’s creative spirit, humor, and introspective nature. The layered scenes and clever staging echo the styles of Cindy Sherman and David LaChapelle, but Goldsmith’s work features even more mischievous themes, detail, and theatrical settings that wittily explore the dichotomy of candid “self-portrait” and imaginative artifice.
Reviews
This book took over 10 years to complete as each image is actually made up of many different photographs and takes at least one month to complete. There are 4 different possible covers and a signed color archival print inside the book which comes is a gorgeous plexi case so you can stand the book up as a piece of art. I have discovered that when one first gets the book out of the box it is shipped it, it is very difficult to remove it from the plexi case. You need to put a piece a paper between the plexi and the book cover, slide it back and forth from side to side. Then turn the book over and do the other side. The book will then come out of the plexi case and you shouldn't have to do this again but temperature changes in shipping cause this problem.
